PAINTING / COATING TECHNICIAN

Rocky Mountain Railcar Repair® is seeking new employees at our full-service railcar repair shop and Utah Fabrication shop located in Tooele, Utah to assist in various departments as needed by plant production. RMRR® regulatory, engineering and commercial expertise make us the preferred source of railcars and services for many of our customers. Owned by the Utah Fabrication, RMRR® headquarters is in Tooele’s converted Army Base district. We are seeking a 3rd shift Baker for our Coating shop that will perform baking processes, as well as additional responsibilities as needed. The rate of pay for this role will be $24.50-$25.50, plus an additional $1.50 per hour shift differential when assigned to the 3rd shift.

Primary Job Functions
 
  • Once tank car interior is coated, will apply piping to start baking procedure.
  • Turns on blower for a specified period before introducing temperature input.
  • Monitors the bake temperature per specifications until the intermediate bake or final bake has been completed.
  • Maintains and stores a record of the baking operations.
  • Maintains equipment and replenishes the short supply.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required
 
  • Must possess a High School Diploma/GED; or have the ability to successfully complete an on-site basic skills assessment.
  • Must possess job-related knowledge; for example, ability to follow work instructions on a document, ability to read a ruler and tape measure, ability to use hand tools.
  • Must be dependable and maintain good attendance; must have reliable transportation; must be able to work scheduled work shifts including overtime.
  • Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, position-specific examinations, background screening, and education verifications.
Environmental and Working Conditions
 
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort involved. Lifts and carries necessary equipment to car to perform operation. Climbs, walks, and balances on top of car while working.
  • May work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 10 ft. off the ground with proper PPE and fall protection.
  • Possibility of exposure to x-ray radiation hazards.
  • Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury.
